Our school

The German Saturday School Brighton & Hove is a place for children from German-speaking or bilingual families who want to deepen their language skills, make friends and experience German culture together.

A child engages in creative drawing with colored pencils surrounded by wooden toys on a table.

Welcome to us!

With us, children learn German with joy, creativity and in a friendly community. We combine language, culture and playful learning so that children can sustainably strengthen their knowledge of German and at the same time have fun together.

Playful learning & language support

Every Saturday morning we meet to speak, read and write German in lively, teaching units – playfully and enjoy the language. Our experienced, native-speaking teachers use modern methods and integrate music, theatre, games and stories into the classroom.

Family Community

Our groups are small and familiar, so that each child is encouraged individually. Parents, children and teachers shape everyday school life together. The school lives from participation with a strong voluntary commitment, which creates a lively community.

Cultural diversity

In addition to language lessons, we celebrate German traditions such as Lantern Festival, Nicholas, Easter and other festivals of the year. In this way, the children not only get to know the language, but also the culture in a playful way. Creative projects and activities connect language and culture in a sustainable way.

Age-appropriate offering

Our groups are aimed at children aged around 3 to 14 years. Over the school year, we offer 30 teaching days, divided into three terms (autumn, winter, spring). In addition, the children have the opportunity to prepare for the GSCE.

Leadership Approach

The German Saturday School is a parents’ initiative and is therefore dependent on parents getting involved and taking on many important tasks to keep the school running.

Help is always welcome, for example for the door service at the entrance every Saturday, for planning celebrations, and also designing the teaching concept for our groups.
